Six Blind Dates . . . Six Chances to Fall in Love.

THE PROMISE THAT KATY DID, by Annette Lyon: After the death of Sue Ellen, the closest thing she has to family, Katy knows it’s time to leave the house she’s lived in as a guest and start over in the city. She quickly secures a job, but before leaving, she must honor the unusual promise she made to Sue Ellen on her deathbed: meet with Mr. Balmer. The elderly gentleman arranges for his grandson Barrett to escort her to a town dance. That evening, shy Katy quickly feels at ease with her partner. If her new position weren’t taking her from town, perhaps something could develop between them. But Barrett may not feel the same about her, and besides, they don't have enough time to find out.

A LADY OF SENSE, by Sarah M. Eden: Eleanor Sherwood has lived her entire life under her parents’ thumb with little hope of escape. When they choose the unbearable Mr. Broadstead to be her future husband, she begs her father for another option. He arranges for her to meet Peter Havensham, who quickly proves himself a good and kindhearted gentleman, completely different from Mr. Broadstead, and utterly undeserving of a forced engagement. Eleanor cannot bring herself to prey upon Peter’s honor, but neither can she imagine a life with Mr. Broadstead. What is a lady to do when faced with such an impossible choice?

A SECOND CHANCE, by Heather B. Moore: Virginia needs a new start in order to recover from her broken marriage, so when her best friend Millie invites Virginia to Chicago, she goes to live with her friend’s family. But when Millie asked Virginia to participate in a double-date, Virginia knows she’s not ready to start dating again. Reluctantly she agrees, only to find out that Max might just be the man who can repair the cracks in her heart.

BRAELYNN’S BLIND DATE, by Victorine E. Lieske. When Braelynn agrees to go on a blind date, she thinks she’s hit the jackpot. Tyler is gorgeous and the perfect gentleman. Of course she should have known it was too good to be true. It turns out that Tyler really wasn’t Tyler, but a random stranger who went along with Braelynn’s mistaken assumption. So, she chalks it up to a dumb mistake until she gets to work Monday morning and discovers that her gorgeous blind date is now her new boss.

BIANCA’S HOPE, by Rachel Branton: A blind-date-gone-wrong is not the way Bianca would have chosen to celebrate the news that she might be losing her business, but saying no to the sister who took care of her after their mother’s death proves impossible. So for one date, one torturous evening, she’ll endure the company of an infuriating, heartless man she has no intention of ever seeing again. She doesn’t expect her heart to have other plans. Bianca soon learns that sometimes the unexpected is not only what you need, it’s exactly what you’ve been waiting for all along.

BLIND SPOT, by Sariah Wilson: Ria has prepared most of her life to meet her prince, trouble is, her mother keeps yanking her back to reality. So when Ria reads about a country teeming with princes, she drops everything and applies to grad school. But every blind date goes wrong, and while Ria commiserates with her roommate Tessa and Tessa’s totally un-prince-like brother Paolo, Ria discovers that all the things she thought she wanted in a man are far from what she really needs.

Book Review: Secrets of Stonebridge

Book Review with Lauren

Secrets of Stonebridge by Anita Stansfield is a regency romance about a woman named Regina who has recently lost her husband.

Regina, on her first outing after her husband’s death, finds an abandoned baby and decides to claim the child as her own. As this charade goes on, the lies and secrets become more and more deep and difficult to keep track of.

When her late husband’s cousin comes for a visit to congratulate her on her new child, things change for Regina as she has to decide who she can trust and how long she can keep her secret.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and thought it was very well-written. I particularly liked the romance between the two main characters. The plot was interesting and unique, however, a few elements of the story were a bit predictable. I loved the resolution and how the author tied up the ending. Overall, I found this to be a very fun read.

Here is the back copy:

Since the untimely death of her young husband, Regina Everleigh has been consumed by her grief. After more than a year spent sequestered in her rooms at Stonebridge Manor, the once lively young woman is encouraged to venture into town—her first small step toward healing. But Regina is shaken out of her stupor when she makes a most unexpected discovery: a foundling baby girl. Regina is instantly enthralled with the infant and determines that she will claim the child as her own—a deception that seems, in the moment, to be harmless. But when her husband’s cousin Radcliffe comes back into her life, Regina quickly becomes entangled in a tenuous charade.

Radcliffe is immediately taken with both the charming baby girl and the woman he believes to be her mother. As Regina and Radcliffe are drawn together, first as friends and then as something much deeper, the future is bright with unspoken promise. But when the truth of the baby’s parentage is revealed, Regina stands to lose all that she has come to cherish.

It's a Girls Day!

Growing up I was a tomboy. I played every sport, took any dare, and hung out with the guys. Now, as a mother to a daughter who likes all the girly things, I'm not always sure how to go about this. She loves clothes shopping, for hours. In my world, the only thing I could shop for that would take hours and hours is books, haha. My daughter loves doing hair, makeup, and nails. I'm pretty easygoing when it comes to hairstyles and I do minimum makeup for the most part, but I have found that I really do like a good manicure!

So, today, we went for manicures with my daughter and her three best friends. It was so fun to listen to them talk and laugh as they decided if they were going to match nail colors or designs and what clothing their nails would go with. I just loved the camaraderie of it all and that I got to be a part of it. Having pretty nails didn't hurt, either! I really think I might do this on a regular basis with my daughter and make some sweet memories with her.

What about you? Do you love manicures? Do you have a regular girls day with friends/daughter/sisters?

Christian Hundley, Lord Easton, has learned the hard way that English society won't accept a person who looks or behaves differently than their ideal. Knowing he must agree to the marriage, Christian shields his heart. If the whole of society cannot accept him, why should his bride?

Rebecca knows she must have love in her life, but Christian is convinced there is nothing so fraught with danger and pain as entrusting one’s heart to another. Forget Me Not News!

A few years ago, when I was writing my Hostage Negotiation series, I thought it would be fun to do a bonus novella for the books in the series. Whenever I've finished reading a book, especially one that I loved, I always wonder what happened to the characters when the book ended. So, I thought, in case there are other people out there like me who want to know more of the couple's story, I wrote the novellas.

The first one is Falling Slowly, a bonus novella for Rafe and Claire in All Fall Down, second is From the Ashes, a bonus story for Colby and Sophia from Ashes, Ashes, and last is Forget Me Not, a bonus story for Bart and Lucy from Pocket Full of Posies

Why am I telling you this? Well, this is a momentous week because FINALLY the last novella, Forget Me Not, is now available in paperback! Woohoo!

You can get your copy HERE

Here's the back copy:

Bart Gutierrez has returned from Colombia with a new outlook. After reconnecting with Lucy Aguayo, he can't imagine his life without her now. But before they can move forward, their dangerous past comes back to haunt them. Can they face it together or will it tear them apart?

Lucy has been undercover for five years and her new life takes some getting used to. Bart and his family have welcomed her with open arms and just as she starts to believe her newfound happiness isn't going to be snatched away, government agents show up unannounced and give her an ultimatum---do one last operation for us or you won't like the consequences.

Everything doesn't go as planned, however, and their lives are on the line. Can they survive the mission and put the past behind them once and for all, in order to have the future they've always wanted?

(Takes place directly following Pocket Full of Posies Hostage Negotiation Team #3)

I'm Really Excited About This Little Announcement!

Photo by Mohammad Metri on Unsplash

So, my romance, Love's Broken Road, holds a special place in my heart. I loved this sweet story about second chance romance with high school teachers. My degree is in Secondary Education and I loved my time as an English teacher and it was fun to put some of my experiences into this book!

I am so excited that Love's Broken Road is about to come out as an audiobook! I found an amazing narrator, Brianne Vega, who voices Tori exactly as she sounded in my head! But she's done a fantastic job and I can't wait for you to hear it. The audio book should be live in just a few weeks, and I will let you know the moment it's available!

Here's the back copy of the book:

Two broken hearts. One more chance for love.

After surviving a difficult marriage, Victoria Newel needs a clean slate for herself and her son. Taking a job as a math teacher, she moves across the country to the small town of Lincoln, Utah, where no one knows her and she can start over. However, her new colleague, Drew Dalton, offers her friendship and maybe something more. But has her heart healed enough that she could trust again?

Drew Dalton lost his wife to cancer years ago and he locked his heart away, throwing himself into his teaching job. But when Victoria Newel starts working at the high school, she awakens something in him that he never thought he’d feel again. Her gentle nature and quiet strength draws him to her, but it’s obvious she’s hiding something in her past from him. Can he open his heart to a woman who harbors so many secrets of her own?
