Author Annette K. Larsen

I was born in Utah, but migrated to Arizona, Missouri, and Virginia before settling in Idaho. Though I dabbled in writing throughout school, being an author seemed like an unattainable dream. It took me seven years to write my first book, Just Ella. During that time, I taught myself how to write a novel. Not the most time effective method, but it gave me an education I wouldn’t have received from a class or a how-to book. Something about the struggle of writing without a formula or rules worked for me. I write clean romance because I love it. Jane Eyre is the hero of my youth and taught me that clinging to your convictions will be hard, but will bring you more genuine happiness than giving in ever can. I love chocolate, Into the Woods, ocean waves, my husband, and my five littles. And I love books that leave me with a sigh of contentment.

I'm so excited to be part of the blog tour for Heather Moore's new novel, Ruth. I've loved all of her other books that feature biblical characters and this one is no exception.

In this book, the author presents the lives of Ruth and Boaz in parallel chapters. It helps the reader to get to know them before they meet, and really shows how their life experiences, trials, and sorrows, shape them and their worldview. The expansion on what could have happened when they met and how their love story began was so plausible to me because of the details and logical perspective the author offers. I love how real and relatable the characters are and the depth of emotion that is shown between Ruth and her mother-in-law Naomi, as well as Ruth and Boaz. One of the places where Ms. Moore excels is in her descriptions of the setting and what life was really like back then culturally, politically, and just everyday, and this book is no different. Her careful research sets this story apart and will keep readers glued to the page.

This is a story of sorrow and faith, love and joy, and is so beautifully written that it brings these people to life and will stay with you long after you've finished reading. It's definitely a hard one to put down!
