Well, if you follow me on Facebook or Twitter, or read this blog, you know I've been considering writing a novella. I wasn't sure if I could really do it and do justice to it, but then the idea came to me.
I've been outlining a great story for Colby and Sophia from my novel Ashes Ashes, to show more of their romance and where they are now. It's sort of shaping up as a Christmas story, though, and I can't decide if that's good or bad. But I really like how the romance and outline so far.
So, in honor of having something new and fun to write, I'm going to be doing a word sprint tonight. If you can come, that would be great! Same time as usual 8 p.m. MST.
(And for those of you who have asked, no, I'm not doing NaNo this year, but I will still do the word sprints every Wednesday and hopefully help/cheer on those of you who are.)
How was your word count this week?

Oh! I think a story on Colby and Sophia set at Christmas time would be wonderful! No harm in at least trying, right? I'll try my best to be there at the sprint this evening.
I'm going to half-heartedly join it this year. My plan, such as it is, is to nano the ending to my current work and then start up the next adventure.
Last night, I put the whole thing into Scrivener by chapters and then spent 20 minutes fiddling with the Compile function to get Chapter headings. /sigh
I'm in the middle of a chapter right now that wasn't scripted originally, but after that, I really only have the big action climax and wrap-up. I'm going to count myself lucky to push 150 pages. Not sure what to do to make it more meaty. I think my cast is too small.
In adventure #2, I have a multidepartmental task force in mind, so that should help.
If I'm available this evening for your sprint, I'll come join. =)
Just FYI, I've started my sprint at 7:00. Will check in at the quarter hour. :)
Hi! At 7:15 I've only added an additional 90 words, but I was interrupted by a phone call. Onward!
Hi, I've only written another 100 words since my last check-in, but I'm nearing the end of this sequel, and I'm being very careful. Onward!
Yay! 112 more words. Still slow, but chuggin' away.
Debra I am SO SORRY! I had something come up with one of my kids and had to attend to it. You are so great for doing it without me. I feel horrible! How can I make it up to you?
Okay, I gave it another 80 words to this manuscript. Not good, but not horrible either. I hope disaster didn't strike, Julie.
Let's just say I would have rather been here with you. :(
I really feel bad. Please forgive me Debra. I didn't mean to let you down.
Ooops, I didn't see your post. No worries. I got some writing done, and that's great. But if you reaaaaly feel bad and need to do something to make you feel better, you can beta read a manuscript for me--just as soon as I'm done with it. Maybe in November? No pressure. (sooo lonely here)
Consider it done. Whew! I love reading your stuff and it gets me off the hook, so win/win!
Seriously, though, thanks for being so understanding.
