Word Count Wednesday

Well, things are moving fast for me now. I wrote 4268 words this week and am knee-deep in revisions. This story is really shaping up and as I near the end, I'm getting excited to have a finished product in front of me. I'm so grateful to my critique partner and critique group for motivating me to get this done and for all their suggestions on making it better. I think this is my best story yet and I can't wait to share it all with you.

How did you do this week? Did you find something or someone to motivate you?

I didn't do much actual writing, but I did do a ton of revising. I also found two people that legitimately wanted to beta read my novel. I was aghast. That never happened and I liken it all to having a blog. Before when I wrote my first book, none of my friends were interested at all in looking at it (I have very honest friends and I tell them to be honest with me). So I had to write it all and just hope that I had enough objectivity to make it decent. I'm so glad I started blogging. It's like the whole world just opened up.

Congrats on your progress on your writing. :))

Michael, I'm grateful for blogging, too. I don't think we would have even met if it wasn't for blogging. :) I'm sorry I missed out on the campaign this time around. I don't know how that escaped me. Next time for sure, it's so much fun!

Congrats on the beta readers. They make all the difference, I think.

Lately, I've been struggling with the writing. On the other hand, I finished the edits on my novel and got some blog promotions going. I'm hoping to really buckle down on the word count for the rest of this week.

Woot for the end!

Let's see. I started revising a book on Monday at about 85,000 words/345 pages, hoping to end up with a few more words and a lot fewer pages.

I'm now at 88,000 words and I've put about 3500 into my "words saving" document, so I guess I've written or rewritten about 6500 words. Woot! It's been a little grueling!

On the downside, I'm now at about 355 pages, which is strangely long for 88,000 words, don't you think? I don't know where all these extra words are coming from!

I put in about 2900 words this week on my rough draft. I think it will naturally go up next week if I can make sure I write a little every afternoon (except Sunday...that's my day off :)).

More revising for me. Good job, Julie for writing your best book yet. That must feel good.

Since I've been home from the ANWA conference (even with my nasty cold) I wrote an article on Linda Radke's (publisher/owner of Five Star Publication, Inc.) class for our ANWA newsletter, 590 words, completed my post for the ANWA Founders and Friends blog due Friday, 482 words, and wrote 1,353 words on my WIP Bucket List of Hope, which, by the way, won 2nd place in ANWA's first ever BOB (Beginning of Book) Award. My other entry, Changes, won 3rd place in the same Romance category. Yes!!!! I'm a happy happy lady--with a cold.

I'm making attempts to revise one of my earlier novels and - I think - I have the seed of a shiny new idea. I'm keeping very still and quiet in the hope that it will bloom a little and end my drought :-)

I've been doing major revisions- I got two sets of notes back from CPs, so I've had a lot to think about. But my word count- after dropping by 30K while cutting unnecessary scenes- has increased by about 3K... so a net of minus 27K.

I have to get to work :\
