I Totally Geeked Out

I went to a lecture on rare books in British literature tonight (it's what book lovers do for fun on a holiday weekend) and I got to hold an 1817 edition of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen! The last edition published while she was still alive. My English teacher self was totally geeking out! 

I was also able to see Shakespeare's 4th Folio (published in 1685) and a first edition of the Hunchback of Notre Dame with illustrations as well as several first editions by Dickens, JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis. 

It was so fun to discuss the authors and their work and hear the stories about where these rare books have been. An incredible evening!
