Word Count Wednesday

Well, I didn't add any word count to the novella this week, but I did have the first chapter of the captain's story come to me one night when I was lying in my bed, exhausted from the day's events.  It's so funny how complete ideas, characters, setting, dialogue, etc., seem to come to me at times when I'm not really prepared to do anything about it.  But I'm still glad it comes.

How did you do this week?

So? What do you do about ideas like that? Did you get up and write them down? I keep my iPhone under my pillow and use my notes app to briefly write down my ideas, otherwise I know that either I'll stay awake, worrying about it, or I will totally forget the idea after I fall asleep. I've done both. Rarely can I remember an idea during that creative period of time--after going to bed and falling asleep. And I've solved so many plot problems during this time of night. Thank goodness for my iPhone!

My youngest is off track for the next three weeks. It's hard to write with him around. I got some editing done yesterday, but didn't even get through an entire chapter. All I had time for today was grocery shopping. I'll do better tomorrow.

Oh, and I had time to write 2203 words on my WIP in between spending two whole days baking and decorating a wedding cake for a friend's daughter. I've done all 5 of her kids wedding cakes. All I can say is thank goodness she doesn't have anymore kids!

Debra, I'm still thinking things through. I haven't written it down, but it was so vivid, I know I won't forget. What a great idea you have, though! And wow on your word count. You continue to amaze me.

Janice, editing is good! Good to see you back around these parts! :)
