Graduation

Today my son graduated from high school and I sat there in the stands, watching this amazing child of mine walk across the stage, ending a chapter in his life and ready to start a new one.  The speeches were all about remembering who you are, blazing new trails and making your own map, and making a difference in the world.

I admit it---I cried.

This is my child who is always at my right hand laughing with me, helping me, and just being a bright ray of sunshine in my life.  I will miss him when he goes to college, but I am so proud of the young man he has become.

So today I hope you will indulge me in being so late in writing my blog.  I did think of all my blog friends as I was sitting there, knowing that you would be cheering for us if you could have been there with me.

It was a spectacular day, one of many more to come I hope.

I would have definitely cheered for you! Yay, Bellon Family! Woo hoo!

I had a choice of whether I would walk for my Bachelor's graduation, and it seemed sort of silly to go and do it in person when I obtained the degree in an online format, but in the end, I just had to do it. I'm glad I did, despite the folly of Phoenix, AZ at the end of July. It's a rite of passage. It's a celebration that allows you to go from one "state" to another - from child to adult perhaps for your son. =) For me, it was a party of "I'm finally done!" I'm sure I'm not alone in this.

Yay, Bellon family! It is a family graduation, too.

I didn't know why your blog didn't appear during the daytime, but considering you put up a post on a holiday, I figured you deserved a day off. I guess you really didn't take that day off, huh?

I walked the graduation line for my diploma in 100+ degree heat, too, in an outdoor ceremony. (I think the whole thing took over 2 hours. Lots of students, boring speakers.) That kind of heat is pretty much all we get down here in Yuma during late May. Some say it isn't as hot as Phoenix. They lie! ;D
