Word Count Wednesday

Well, I've got my lucky writing shirt on and I'm ready to do some serious revising today.  I'm preparing to send this puppy to my beta readers and I want it to be my best work.

It's been a difficult week for getting any writing done so I'm really looking forward to having some time today to just sit and write.

How did your week go?  Have you been able to set any writing time aside?  Did you get any word count?

I got 4678 words written this week. Woohoo! I'm happy with that considering I have a new drawing on my board yelling at me to pay attention to it and not my story. (I've ignored it (mostly) so far.) And we also went out of town for my birthday over the weekend, and that ate away a huge chunk of writing time, but it was worth it being able to see my sweet daughter-in-law's rounded belly. Our granddaughter is due in June. Have I told you that before? (question mark) Don't worry, I'll tell you that again over the next few months. lol.

It sounds like you're feeling better, Julie. I hope so, anyway.

Debra, that's so awesome and I'm so glad you had a wonderful birthday. And congrats on the grandbaby, too! All good news from your house today. :)

I was speeding along just pounding out my new WIP #4 and then hit the wall. I'm at 42K with only five chapters in my skeleton of a rough draft left! So I'll edit a few things, write a script for youth conference and then get back to it. I want to get it done so I can revise #3, and do "to press" edits on #2. While the story is still fresh in my head.

I've been revising and outlining, so I don't have much of a word count. I do have a fabulous outline, however.

I neglected to save an extra copy of my WIP last Wednesday, so I can't see what the difference is precisely, but it's probably around 750. I've added 3 pages worth of supporting information to my first (original) 20 pages.

Michelle, you have just made my day. =) At the end of my NaNo writing, I had a pretty low word count and I was looking at only having maybe 25% more to do. My thought then was, this isn't a book, it's a novella at best. I'm glad to see that you don't have to have this monster at the end of the first rough draft. From listening to other (overachieving) people, it sounded like you'd have 150,000 words and then you'd have to edit it down to something more reasonable. =( Not my experience. This makes me feel better, though.
