Word Count Wednesday

I'm editing a very emotional scene today that I really want to get right.  So far, I've cut five pages, put them back in, then cut two.  Now I'm thinking I should just re-write the whole thing.  Or go for a walk and clear my head.

Speaking of walking, remember when I told you that when I started JumpStartWriMo I started walking again because walking always helps my creative flow?  I'm up to two miles a day now and I've lost eight pounds.  And, honestly, I think my manuscript is the better for it, too, because most of my best ideas for how to knock this thing out have come during my walks.  So there you go, win/win for everyone!

How did you do with your word count this week?

I had copy edits due this week. I had to rewrite an entire chapter. The comment was to use more show and less tell but don't add a lot of words doing that.

Well, I read the chapter and decided it was garbage and needed a complete rewrite. In the end, I cut half the chapter by combining 4 different scenes into one and still saved all the crucial info.

So my word count went down this week, but my writing improved. :)

Now my book is in typesetting, yea! So exciting!

Yay! Doesn't it feel so good when the book is in that phase? Hopefully not much longer for me. Congrats, Kate!

I finished my book last week, I write 13,838 words in one week!!!! I'm so excited. It's still really short and needs lots of revision but it's done! Whoohoo!

Congratulations, Michelle! That's wonderful! One of these days we need to exchange manuscripts again. I'm so excited for you! :)

Yay, Kate! Congrats to Michelle too.

I'm mostly finished with my manuscript, trying to get ready to send it out to beta readers. I thought I didn't have a lot of revising to do, but I've found there's a lot of revising to do.

This week, I went through and deleted unnecessary words. That took 1000 words off--no kidding. Now I'm reading it out loud and working on a few select scenes. It's so hard to write a decent kissing scene when I know my mom is going to read it.

Rebecca, isn't that the truth? Kissing scenes are delicate. :) Congrats with getting it ready to send to beta readers. That's a big step!
