Word Count Wednesday

Well, I was going to have to post some dismal numbers again this week until my baby started throwing up at 4 a.m. After we'd gotten everything cleaned up the second time, I just couldn't go back to sleep. So guess what I did?

I got up and got some word count in!

So hooray for baby vomit! It has saved my word count. I officially wrote just under 3000 words since "the incident." Yay me!

How did you do this week? And do you ever get up in the middle of the night to write?

I only added about 2000, but I did some good revising along the way, so I'm happy with it. This has been a busy week, so I took only a few minutes at a time, but it's better than nothing!

I haven't written anything this week. Nothing. I feel . . . empty . . . about not being able to spend time with my characters. I love them so. I have been lying awake at night, but not because of a sick child, or for thinking about my writing. It's amazing how a single, destructive phone call from a stranger can jerk you from your happy life and put a stranglehold on your thoughts.

I only got in 2000 words. I guess that's what happens when you edit as you go.

I always thought it be nice if children vomited in the afternoon instead of the middle of the night until one afternoon when my 7-year old vomited at the planetarium. I think I prefer middle of the night clean ups to middle of the public clean ups.

I had baby vomit this morning too, only it was after I already woke up. Coincidentally, I got a good word count in today too. I haven't counted my words, but I added 10 pages.

Way to put a positive spin on puke! (This is how I try to do it: http://www.mamablogga.com/law-order-pukeageddon/ I'm with you on the public clean ups, Janice).

Since last Wednesday, I added 18,000 words to my MS, about a third of that yesterday when I started in on the sequence that inspired the whole book.

Right now, I'm going back through and "padding" (i.e. filling in stuff I was leaving for later anyway) in a couple places so this big, pivotal event will happen at the mid-point of the book.

Oh, and PS--we need your chapters!!

Do I ever get up in the middle of the night to write? Not since I started teaching early morning seminary, no.

Did I ever write in the middle of the night? No, not really. For some reason, I just can't concentrate after ten o'clock. If I ever do find myself awake after that time, I usually just read, whether in a real book or on the internet.

I want to get back to writing, but I still haven't found a subject I want to write on. But at least I'm thinking about it. :-)

Umm ... it's an ill wind that blows no good? ;-)

Congratulations on the word count, hope the baby is fine now!
