Word Count Wednesday

Can I say how grateful I am for all of you who read and comment on my blog? It is so amazing to me how many people I've met since I started blogging with the Frog blog and then over here at my own blog. I am so glad to have you all for bloggy friends.

I don't have much of a word count this week at all. I finished my chapters for my critique group and then I started on the paper boxes (I have seven left to go! Woohoo!) so I'm afraid my word count fell by the wayside. I know I'll go back to it after my critique group meets (they're so motivating!) but I'm thinking that my brain needed a break this week. That's what I'm telling myself anyway.

How did you do this week?

My new WIP is almost up to 10,000 words. This is the hardest part for me. I love revisions.

Low word count, only about 2500. But a lot of revisions were done, too, so... Yay?

I only comment when I have something to say, but I read every post. I may skim the reviews of romance novels, though.

How are you coping without Castle or H50 this week?

We're catching up with old episodes of House. (Not as satisfying.) Oh, and you should check out Awake. If you've seen the movie Sliding Doors (a personal favorite of ours) the premise feels familiar. It's got some good characters and actors you'll recognize from other shows (SVU, 24, The Practice, Harry Potter)

(Forgot to add: the actress from Castle that was bugging me: she was on Suits, the new USA show from this past summer.)

I'm afraid I don't have a word count for this week, either, I've been doing too much research on that historical romance I started this past week. Okay, I didn't technically start it. I don't have an opening hook or even the first page done, but the book's characters are swirling in my head so much they're interfering with what I should be working on.

I hope you don't get too much flack from your critique group when you meet with them, but at least you'll be down a few more boxes of papers, and maybe even a few more lost dollars richer. That's always invigorating!

I've been revising, and I have a long list of fixes to make still. I should really count all the words I've deleted lately because that would be really impressive.

I've managed to write a couple of posts, plus over 9000 words on my new novel. not bad for a week's work.

I think the slump is over. I'm not writing, but revising. I found out what the problem was - I was revising the wrong project :-)

This week's writing involved mainly writing a synopsis for my new manuscript. Then I submitted the book. Yay!

Janice, I'm with you, revisions are a little more fun.

Gina, YAY! That's awesome!

Jon, thank you for that. Sometimes I wonder if anyone reads my posts. haha! I've never seen Sliding Doors. I'll have to check that on out if it's a personal favorite!

As for my Castle and H5O withdrawals, I coped by going through more paper boxes. I was sad to hear about Alex O'Loughlin checking into rehab. At least it sounds like he's on top of things. :( How did you cope with the withdrawal?

Debra, I would never want to raise the ire of my critique group so I did my chapters for them first. It gives me shivers just thinking about not having anything for those guys! haha. And it was so great finding all that money in my paper piles. Motivating for sure. :)

Rebecca, maybe we should do a how many words did you delete this week post? haha. Sounds like you're doing good on revisions, though.

Bridget, that's great!

Sarah, that has happened to me before, too! It's so funny how it has to be the right project for the muse to kick in. I'm so happy for you that the slump is over.

Stephanie, you are a writing MACHINE! Congratulations! I'm sure you made your editor's day as well as your millions of fans. :)

Yay, Stephanie!!

So I've been working on a major revision. From last Monday (Feb 27) to last night, I cut about 20,000 words from my manuscript, and the word count ended up right about the same as it was before I started. So I think I wrote 20,000 words in 9 days.

I'm tired ;) .
