Word Count Wednesday

It’s time to check in for Word Count Wednesday. How did you do this week?

I didn’t work at all on my current work in progress. I’ve been busy editing two of my backlist titles for their ebook debut. I’m really excited about that. As soon as they’re out, I’ll let you know.

So, my word count was down, but I edited over 400 pages so I’m counting that as a success.

I also found this little saying this week, that I printed out and put near my desk.

"The dictionary is the only place that success comes before work. Hard work is the price we must pay for success. I think you can accomplish anything if you're willing to pay the price." - Vince Lombard

Isn’t that so true with anything in our lives? Anyway, I liked it.

Be sure to tell me how your word count went this week. It’s fun for me to celebrate word count successes with other authors. So don't be shy. Tell the world (or at least the people who read this blog) how is your work in progress coming?

I had a great week with my writing. After I revised my characters ages (before our all important wedding trek to Utah) and after adjusting the coordinating, supporting structure to go along with the changes, I didn't get another chance to write until a week ago, and, I tell you, it was like I was dying of thirst and finding a bottled water truck overturned in the desert. I drank it up. As of this morning I had 12,999 words done. Give me a few more hours and I'll add to that. In fact, I already wrote another page that I didn't include in this word count. Of course, I still had to read the pre-requisite two or three chapters before I got started each day. Habits like that just don't disappear.

I'd say 400 pages edited is a great success! I count by pages rather than words since I write long hand in a notebook and counting the words isn't easy. 10 pages is my normal weekly goal. Last week I got 11! This week, I have 5 so far. So, I'm feeling good about that. =)

Deb, what a great analogy! I love it. Writing after an absence is totally like that! And it sounds like you're on a roll! Woohoo!

Angie, I completely admire you for writing longhand. I do outlines and chapter synopsis longhand (and my idea book) but I don't think I could do the whole book! You amaze me! And congrats on getting 11 pages last week. What a great feeling.

Okay, its 9:20 pm here in Arizona, and I'm kind of tired so I'll add another 3,629 to my word count. No, I'm not exaggerating--just on a great roll and in an exciting part of my story. Also, no kids at home any longer helps soooo much. Sorry, Julie. This is that time in my life. :)

I have no idea how my word count is coming along, because I don't count them daily. I write, then I go to bed, lay awake thinking of my story, eventually fall asleep, get up the next morning, edit everything I've written the day before, write something new, go to bed again ... The only thing I can say is that my fanfic is progressing well at the moment, and the end is in sight.
