Word Count Wednesday

Well, once again my word count was low, (I was replacing all the nods, felts, wondered, and looked in my WIP) but that's because I have been getting ready to launch my new book, All Fall Down!  I have some fun ideas and contests coming up, so I hope you'll check back.

Also, if you haven't entered my Back to the Books Giveaway Hop, you totally should.  There are a ton of great prizes, including mine.  I'm offering a Book Lover's Box with my new book, gourmet hot chocolate, and a hand-tied blanket.  All you have to do is write me a first paragraph in the comment section of the Hop post (click on the Book Hop pic in the sidebar to go right to it.)

If you haven't read through some of those first paragraphs I've gotten already, you should.  They are great!  Go look, seriously.  I'll wait.

All right, now that you've read the paragraphs, and entered yourself, how did you do in your word count this week?  Was it awesome?

I did really well this week! I took the paragraph that I wrote for the Book Hop and made a short story out of it, just under 1000 words. But because I had to revise and edit a bit, my word count is probably over 1000 words. Anyway, the story is finished now and I am completely stoked about it! I am going to submit it to Daily Science Fiction and hope for the best possible news!

Yay Melanie! That's wonderful!

I didn't do a lot of writing, but I did do some reading and editing. I think I'm on the edge of forming a critique group with a couple of friends (they are brothers of each other, practically brothers of mine) One is working on a fantasy, the other on sci-fi, and then there's my mystery with a plot device that could be called speculative fiction. (In a stretch.) They're both a ways behind me in their own works, and will probably finish trilogies before I finish my one book. =P

I do have some ideas sketched for the Book Hop contest, just to have a little fun. I still have time, right?

Yes, you have until midnight on Sept. 7th. Can't wait to see what you come up with. :)

I got around 1000 this week. I'll have to see if I get around to writing a first paragraph. I have one on my laptop I could use.

No words written--on a work in progress anyway. I read a lot, though. Can't we count that--somehow? *whine--whimper*

Jon--I'm so jealous! You're going to have an actual book group! Who's going to bring the cookies the first week? What kind? Can I come? You can meet at my house the first time.

Debra, I'd be happy to have you come, but while one brother is only 15 minutes away, the other brother is working in Germany, so I don't think we'll be doing face-to-face groups, unless I can figure out Skype.

Tell you what, I have a sugar cookie at my desk right now and when I eat it, I'll think of you. =)

Julie, can I count the 100 words or so in my paragraph on your book hop towards next Wednesday's word count? ;)

Rebecca, that's awesome!

Debra, just because I like you, we'll count your reading words this week. :)

Jon, you can count those words, too. Just because I'm nice that way. :)

I love the title of your book - All Fall Down. The title is probably the toughest part of a novel for me to write. Good job.

Randy, I've been wondering what happened to you! Good to see you back. Any news on your story yet?
(And thanks, I love that title!) :)
