Word Count Wednesday

For those of you who are following my PaperWatch 2012, I am happy to tell you that HALF of my bedroom is now paper-free. HALF! I am so excited. It's taken me 25 days, but I'm so motivated to do the other half and I have to say, it's really done something for my peace of mind. It just makes me feel good.

What also makes me feel good is the fact that I have rewritten and edited fifty pages of my manuscript this week and then I wrote a new chapter. It's really coming along and I'm so excited. I'm not quite at my goal that I set for January, but I'm close.

How did you do this week?

Have editted/rewritten 85 pages. Only 300 more to go. And I thought the writing part was hard.

Yay! Good job. I met last week's goal, and I'm going on this week. I have 40 pages out of my 50 page goal this month!

Congratulations on the paper chomping. A little bit every day does accomplish much.

This week I wrote another synopsis (page and a half) and query letter. I had the paragraph (of the query) up on my ANWA line to let the ladies to critique it. Over the past few days they did a bang-up job, too. Now I'm very happy with it. That's two down and one more to go before I can get back to my WIP. I actually pulled my WIP up this morning and picked a random place and started reading--I miss it. When I got to a certain point, the story ended, and I freaked out. There was a large part of the manuscript missing! I've had the computer suddenly shut down on my a couple of times, but the machine said it backed up the open documents so I didn't worry. I methodically went through my files--and no, couldn't find what I'd written last month. I didn't cry. Really. I tried to talk myself into looking at it as an opportunity to rewrite it better.

But then a thought occurred to me. What if the machine saved it in a different place--like under documents instead of where I usually put them. When a trembling finger I clicked down the file, and sure enough, there it was! Yay, and heavy sigh . . . nine thousand words is a lot to lose.

I had to put my goals aside so I could write a bio and a synopsis and go over a contract. :) I'm having a Christmas pamphlet published through Cedar Fort! I just posted the announcement on my blog.

I have done nothing. Again. This could become a problem ...

Working on revisions. Not quite 1/3 of the way through the manuscript . . . lots left to do.

And my bedroom is a complete and utter mess with tons of papers needing sorting . . . sigh.

Brittany, don't you love the revision phase? :)

Angie, you are inspiring. If you can do it, so can I! :)

Debra, it is so liberating. But also a little hard in that these are a lot of my children's school papers so I love to ooh and aah and wish time didn't go so fast. Congratulations on finding the lost work. That is the worst feeling in the world to think it's gone!

Thanks, Melanie. How are you? I've been thinking about you.

CONGRATULATIONS, Janice! That's such an amazing feeling. I'm so happy for you!

Charlie, 800 words is great!

Sarah, sometimes we all need a break. You'll get back to it. Right? ;)

Stephanie, I can't wait for your next book. But, since you're working on a new one, can I request two kisses in it? I know it's a mystery and all . . . (I have to ask, you know that, right?) ;)

That's awesome, Julie! I'm doing a paper purge too and it's amazing how much lighter life rests on one's shoulders when it's not weighted down by all that papery mess!
