Happy Boxing Day!

For all my Canadian friends, I hope you're having a relaxing Boxing Day. I know I am!

All my kids are happily playing with the Christmas presents they got yesterday, and I've been puttering around doing nothing really. I got rid of a flower arrangement that I've had for fourteen years. For some reason I woke up today and thought, you know, I think I'm done with that. It's been sort of a freeing thing. Like starting over with a blank wall. Has that ever happened to you?

How was your Christmas? What have you been doing today?

The kids were with their dad today, so my Boxing day consisted of pizza, chocolate and a computer game. Yes, I'm twelve :-)

Read in my pjs until noon. Nice slow shower. Tried to teach my daughter to knit. Gave up and went for crochet. Watched the kids play with their new toys. Activated my new phone (woot). It's been a nice quiet day. Tomorrow we clean.

We observed Boxing Day by getting rid of a lot of boxes, and organizing part of the garage. It does feel good.

We had a slow, relaxing day, too; I spent lots of time reading, but I also got the family together to play a board game. For a special Christmas gift from my sons, I asked for time, specifically, if they'd sacrifice approximately an hour each day during the Christmas holidays to play board games with me. To my surprise, they both agreed that they would. My husband, not usually a gamer, also came in and played with us, Oh happy day!

I cleaned house yesterday. Every flat countertop, tabletop, chair, you-have-it had stacks of things on it. That's what happens when I get sick for a couple of weeks. My husband doesn't do housework, but yesterday we put away decorations I had started to put up but never got any farther than bringing in the boxes and pulling out a few things. *sigh* Now all the decorations and boxes and are snuggly back where they belong and I'm slowing digging out from under the clutter. Of course I had time to read a book on my new Kindle Fire *CHEERS* in between the housework. Kristie Tate's STEELING MERCY kept me company when I lost strength and had to sit down, or take a "nap" and read.

I also plan on throwing out old stuff that has been taking up space around here. You know, those cheep things that I haven't had the heart to get rid of for whatever reason. That blank canvas sounds good. Or even a clean white sheet of paper.

I went to the movies with my husband and grown son who is visiting us for Christmas. We saw the new Sherlock Holmes movie and I enjoyed it. I think it's better than the first one. I especially like how it ended. I haven't done any cleaning or putting away yet--there are still boxes full of discarded wrapping paper in the livingroom. :-)

Debra, I'm jealous. Maybe I'll get a Kindle Fire next year. I didn't get a single book for Christmas! (ok, I did get a pocket reference book that has EVERYTHING in it) Does the Fire live up to the hype? Is it a decent tablet + Kindle ?

Hmm, I got an R/C helicopter, a Nintendo DS game and a pound of jellybeans. I must be 12, too!

Julie: I noticed that one of your books was on my (mother-in-law? step-mother-in-law?)'s reading pile with a bookmark in it. (All's Fair)

@Jon
I love my Kindle Fire. I've downloaded so many "free" apps, including the scriptures and all the church magazines. Carrying it around in my purse is a breeze. It's in color and a little bigger screen. I can check my email and write emails and such. Facebooking can be done too. *giggles* Yep, I waited a long time for this little tablet. I can even make notes (not full manuscripts) on it when I'm out and about. Have fun with your R/C helicopter. I've crashed more than a couple of those.

LOL Sarah, that sounds fun!

Janice, you and me are *likethis*

Haha, T. We need to organize our garage now, too. It is full of boxes. :)

Melanie, we love board games. We got a fun one called Logos for Christmas. Have you played that one?

Debra, I didn't know you'd been sick! I'm glad you're feeling better. I'm totally with you on the out with the old stuff. De-cluttering can be addicting!

Gussie, I'd heard that movie was good! I need to go see it. I also want to see the new Mission Impossible. It looks good!

Jon, are you going to tell me what she thinks of it when she's done? I'm totally nervous now! :)
