Word Count Wednesday

I went to the theater last night with my son and saw the musical The Marvelous Wonderettes. Oh man, I haven't laughed that hard in forever. Such a fun show!

We got home late and I was tired but as I was getting ready for bed, the solution to the problem I'd been having with my plot hit me.

At 1 a.m.

When I was too tired to go downstairs and write it all down.

So that meant I had to think about it all night long so I wouldn't forget it (and yes, it does give me weird dreams when I do that.) (And before you say, well, you should have taken a pad of paper out of your nightstand and wrote some key phrases down, yeah, it was 1 a.m. and I was barely coherent, so I didn't. I thought I could just remember it.)

Well, I'm happy to tell you that I DID remember it this morning and I am frantically writing it all down (and trying to separate what was the inspiration and what was part of my freakish dreams.)

And I'm also happy to tell you I wrote 4120 words this week. Woohoo! JuCanWriMo is going very well for me overall.

How did you do this week?

Julie, You're doing great. I got 7 pages, which is pretty good considering the amount of time I actually spent writing. I'm trying to figure out how to balance my marketing time and my writing time.

Whoo hoot!! You rock like Mick Jagger. If I tried to rely on my memory for something I thought about at night, I would so totally be out of luck. I know, I've lost more than a few ideas thinking I could do that.

This week I was able to edit a story I wrote a few months ago called CHANGES, tightened it up and rewrote a cover letter. Now I'm about 160 pages into a rewrite of an older manuscript. It's going amazing well, IMOHO. I figured when I have all three manuscripts ready, then I'll send them out for submissions--kind of overwhelm the LDS publishers and get their attention. Some want to know if you have a series of books planned/written, but would they look at three contemporary romance/suspense novels in the same light even though they aren't related in storyline? *shrugs*

So glad you still remembered! Great word count too. I did 18 pages last week! That made me happy.

Rebecca, it is so hard to find that balance sometimes! Congrats on the page count!

Debra, I have some moves that Mick Jagger would probably cringe over. Haha! Three manuscripts? You are amazing, my friend! Let me know how the submits go, okay?

Angie that is AWESOME! Congrats on doing so well this week.

What can I say? We are doing fantastic in our word/page counts. I wish we all lived closer so we could have a party. Wouldn't that be fun? :)

I've woken up more than once to incoherent scribblings on the pad next to my bed. Usually it really is just gibberish- something my dream brain thought was an incredible idea and had to be written at 3am. Good job having a coherent idea, and being able to remember it!
;D

I finished my latest book Monday! Woot! I can't remember how many words it was since last Wednesday, but my favorite two were "The End."

No. They were "I lied."

I'm really impressed that you remembered something all night. I'd have no chance :-)

I've done about 12k this week. It's a good start.
