Word Count Wednesday

Last week I announced I was doing a personal mini-NaNoWriMo and calling it JuCanWriMo. My goal was 600 words a day or 4200 words this week.

I am happy to tell you that I wrote 5286 words this week.

WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!

I am so proud of myself because this week was really busy and it was hard to sit down each day, even for a little while, and just pound out a scene.

I'm feeling really good about my JuCanWriMo and know I can do it again this week if I'm consistent with sitting down each day. The hard thing is the negatives that sometimes run through my head like, "I don't have time today," "I don't know where my scene is going," "just check Facebook and Twitter, it won't hurt anything." But if I put that sort of thinking aside, I seem to be able to get quite a bit done! Shocker, I know.

How did you do this week?

I've edited at least one chapter a day! It still has a long way to go. My rough draft is like the skeleton. This edit is to make sure the head bone isn't connected to the foot bone that's connected to the finger bone.

Congratulations on the fab word count. I keep using you as an example whenever I tell somebody about writing and they use being too busy as excuse to even try. You totally rock!

I know this isn't exactly within your boundaries of JuCanWriMo, but I finished editing my 87K suspense "Firesetters" last night, but I'm reading it again to find those pesky tense mistakes. I haven't found many this time through. ;)

Janice, I look at my drafts like that, too, the first one being the skeleton, then fleshing it out as I go along, and polishing it when I finish. I'm so glad you are moving toward your goals!

Deb, I want you to be my new PR person, k? Thank you! And you know I am totally supportive of you and your goals whether it's writing or editing! I'm thrilled you're in the editing phase and the tenses are agreeing. LOL Go you!

Sounds like it was a good week for all of us. :)

Umm ... I've written about 1800 words since NaNo started. (Well, 3800 but I deleted the first 2k :-))

Well done for smashing your target :-)

Sarah, are you allowed to delete in Nano? Doesn't that defeat the purpose? ;)

Congratulations, Julie and all you others. My word count was 0. I did a great job editing my proof, though. I think my editor might put my picture on the dart board because there were so many changes. Tomorrow, I'm starting back on the word count goal.
