Word Count Wednesday

Well, my word count this week? Zero. Nada. None.

But I’m okay with that.

You see, my mother came to visit. I haven’t seen her in two and a half years and so I spent the entire last week doing nothing but being with her, shopping with her, visiting with her, introducing my babies to her, and laughing with her.

My book can wait. We were making memories!

But how did you do on your word count this week? And did you hear I have something fun to announce to you tomorrow?

Yay for you!!! I wished I could see my mom again, if for only one day.

I hope she brought you Canadian chocolates.

My word count last week was 71K. This week it’s 76,244. I overshot my goal, but I’M FINISHED! Finito! Finale! Now I have to go back and try to whittle it down closer to the 75K I intended, and get my hook line, and summary pages, and cover letter, and, Oh!
My! Heck! Where did the fun go?

I need a chocolate!

I had to make some alterations to my fanfic, and ended up writing about 4000 words in revisions and new scenes. I'm so excited about how much this is going to improve the story. To paraphrase Hannibal from the A-Team, "I love it when a plot comes together."

If only I could do this well on my original stories.

Debra, that one little comment made me all teary, "I wish I could see my Mom again, if only for one day." I really do want to treasure all the time I have with her. Thank you for reminding me of the fact that we never know when that time will end. And don't ever forget to have fun with your writing. It's a great motivator. :)

Melanie, I always watched A-team when I was a girl! I didn't see the recent movie remake of it yet though. I'm so happy that your plot is coming together! YAY!

That's what I'm doing right now! Not writing and spending time with my mom!

I wrote 2 pages of a character bio for someone who is about to die!

I'm following some advice in creating character bios and it's really helped flesh them out. Through them, I have motivations, history, relationships. I end up not using probably half of what goes into the bio, but I feel like the exercise does its job.

Alas! Poor Chad, we hardly knew ye.

Poor Chad. There aren't too many bad guys named Chad, have you noticed that? (Assuming Chad is dying because he's a bad guy?)

Character bios are very helpful and I have a lot of fun writing them. It's like getting to know new friends. :)
