Writer Goal Wednesday

This writing sprint thing is totally working for me.  Last week I got in 3557 words on my new novel and added enough words in editing to finish my edit and hand in my novella. Woot! I am loving it!

My kids are back in school now and with my preschooler's schedule I will have NINE HOURS to myself per week to write. I don't mind saying, I'm totally stoked about this.  Which has led me to consider doing something I've never done before.  *bites nails*

I'm thinking about writing two novels simultaneously.

You see, in my new series, the four books are actually sequels to each other. Not just characters from one book getting a book of their own, the story actually continues in the next book type thing. Which is also something I've never done before.

I'm about sixty pages in on the first book and fifty pages in on the second book and so far I don't think it's going badly. It's sort of nice having the continuity flowing and not having to go back and look at the first book, if that makes sense.  But it's also a bit more time-consuming than I thought.  I'm sort of excited to see how it works out, though. I will keep you posted on if I can keep it up!

So, last week I accomplished my goal of writing at least 3000 words. This week I'd like to do just a little bit more, so my goal will be 3500 words.

How did your writing go last week? Any goals you'd like to put out there for the coming week?

I'm impressed that a busy mom can get any writing done. I work part time and find it difficult, and my kids are all grown and gone. I am still learning though, and will be for a while.

I also like your picture. We use the SMART goals at work too.

Thanks, Mary Ann! It is definitely a learning process figuring out what works for you and what doesn't. And I liked that picture because it really represented what I wanted to do this year. Glad you liked it, too! :)
