Word Count Wednesday

Well, I won a three chapter critique from Eschler Editing so I've been endlessly tweaking my three chapters that I'm going to give to them.  Which pretty much means my word count went like this---add two words, take away three words, add four more words, take away one word, and so on and so on.

I think I might have broke even.

I need to stop tweaking and just give it to them.  And probably stop obsessing so much. It's a curse I tell you. The curse of the endless editing.

How did you do this week?

Congrats on the free critique from Angela! Three chapters! Wow! She's tough, and sometimes (most of the time) not very tactful with the way she couches her words. Be prepared for some stinging remarks, but they can be helpful.

Even with my (very easy) edits, was I able to write 7,220 words on my WIP this week. I'm jazzed about that!!! Totally, to date, about 50K. More than halfway to my goal of 75K to 80K.

Angela was the very first editor I worked with when my publishing company picked me up. It's been a few years since she's edited me so I need to put my thick skin on! LOL No, really, she is one of the most talented editors I've ever seen, and I'm thrilled to be working with her again for a little bit. She's amazing.

Congrats on the word count! You continue to amaze me. We need to do a sprint one of these days. I've missed doing those with you!

Well, you always kick my rear-end on those sprints. I over think my scenes too much.

LOL - Congrats on your win. Might as well submit the chapters and leave the editor something to edit. I've been doing the first edit of my memoir - I take out thousands of words from scenes that don't push my story forward. In expanding the remaining scenes I seem to keep the same number of words. This is not good because need to cut my words by half. Oh well, Illl get the scenes good, then decide which ones don't belong. I have a deleted scene file, so I save them for possible future use. I'm looking forward to seeing what comes from your edit.

Heather, I know I should, but sometimes it's hard to let go of the baby, you know? And I, too, have a deleted scene file for all of my books. I need to put them out again and see what I've got. I keep them, but never use them! LOL

Debra, it's the one thing that I can beat you on! LOL But not very often I'm afraid.
