Book Review and a Giveaway!

I was a little surprised when I saw the cover for Traci Hunter Abramson's new book, Proximity. It sort of looks similar to one of the original covers for my own suspense novel, Pocket Full of Posies. Dead/dried roses just have a vibe about them for suspense books, am I right?

Proximity starts off with a strange little aside about a police officer named Colby who didn't end up marrying Lexi and is pretty put out about it. And then we don't see him again for a while, but he's always there in the back of your mind, wondering when he'll pop up again. In the meantime, we get to know Tia, a quirky, fun character who is always late and everyone loves. She meets Evan and they hit it off, but a long distance relationship is hard. Enter Colby and then things really start to snowball, but it's much more than a love triangle. (No spoilers here, though.) The suspense was definitely a slow boil with this book, and then when it ratchets up higher and tighter, you won't want to put it down. Stalker books are so creepy!

I really liked Tia and thought she was a well-drawn character. The romance scenes were fun and relatable and while the plot was a bit predictable, it was still an entertaining read. I also thought it was nice to catch up with a few characters from previous books!

Traci Hunter Abramson fans will enjoy this suspense, but don't start reading the end right before bedtime! You won't want to put it down until you see how it all turns out.

Here's the back copy:

Tia Parker always seems to fall for the wrong guy. But when she meets Evan Spence at a friend's wedding, it seems like she's finally found Mr. Right. Their spark is undeniable, but reality may extinguish any hope for a future: they are separated by thousands of miles. As the couple struggles with the pitfalls of pursuing romance long-distance, Tia is taken off guard by a new arrival in town. Colby Farren is handsome and charming and has made it clear he's interested in Tia. Yet despite his obvious infatuation, Tia can't seem to get Evan out of her mind. Caught between the attention of two very different men, her complicated love life is soon eclipsed by much more sobering concerns. A break-in at her apartment is just the first in a series of bizarre events, each bringing her one step closer to a dangerous liaison. And knowing who to trust could be a matter of life and death.
