ReplyDeleteI liked being a goddess, but the truth is, the best costume I've ever had was a Cowardly Lion costume my mother-in-law made for me. I was the Lion, my sister was Dorothy, her husband was Tinman, and my hubby was Scarecrow. We looked pretty cool. My costume was sexy or anything (it was more like footy pjs - BIG footy pjs, but it was a fun costume. We all looked liked we were supposed to, though. :)
ReplyDeleteThe most awesome Halloween costume I ever had was when I was 11. My neighbor returned home after 2 1/2 years in Korwas. He had a Geisha girl dress that was only slightly too big. His married sister fixed my hair as he showed her in a picture and put on my makeup. He also had the hair ornaments.

ReplyDeleteHonestly, I've never made or worn an awesome costume-- but my husband, baby, and I are probably going to go as the moustache-clad Beastie Boys from the "Sabotage" video for Halloween. It should be funny :)
ReplyDeleteI made my husband this really fancy Lord of the Rings type costume. He wore it a couple of times and then sold it. (It was really supposed to be for his sister's Lord of the Rings autumn wedding, but the wedding was called off--at least it was put to good use)
ReplyDeleteMaybe not the best but my favorite costume was when I went as a single-celled organism. I glued the parts of a cell onto an old nightgown.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite Halloween costume was Little Red Riding Hood. It was about 4-5 years ago and I loved it! This year I am hoping to top that but I have no idea with what. haha.

Two years ago I made my husband a headless horseman costume and he won first place! He looked great.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was twelve, we found a prom dress from the 50s at a garage sale. That was the most awesome dress (and costume) ever!
ReplyDeleteIn grade school, my mother dressed me as Carmen Miranda, complete with the fruit on my head. You have to be older to know who Carmen Miranda was, or a fan of 1940's musicals.

ReplyDeleteThe most awesome I made was one year my sister and her boyfriend went as mobsters :) I had a black pinstripe skirt and blazer suit, which she wore, then we added white carnation boutonniere and a black fedora for her and him. He wore a black pinstripe vest and black pants and the boutonniere. They both had fake cigars too, lol :)

ReplyDeleteI once dressed up as the roach motel manager and had a giant cockroach on my back. I also carried plenty of rubber cockroaches to drop on tables ect. to scare people. It was fun!

ReplyDeleteWhen my son was 5, his dad and I made him an Elvis costume. We used a white shirt and pants and glued sequins and jewels all over them for the outfit. For the hair, we bought a werewolf wig and cut pork chop side burns into it. He won a costume contest! We also taught him to say "Thank-you, thank-you very much". So funny!

When I was younger and I dressed as a 50's girl. My mom made me a poodle skirt and I went all out with the outfit. I loved it!
ReplyDeleteI was happy going as cat-woman (just a spandex mask with cat ears) almost every year until I was like 12. Sometimes just to mix things up I wore a witch's hat on top of the mask. Since then I haven't dressed up.

ReplyDeleteI was a butterfly one year, when I was 5 or 6, and that was pretty awesome!My mother is a choreographer, and a very talented makeup artist to boot, so my homemade costumes were always breathtaking, but that year was the very best.
ReplyDeleteOne year I made my husband a Mugatu costume in 24hrs. Last year I made him a Peanut, from Jeff Dunham's puppets, costume. I sewed the whole body suit. It was awesome.

ReplyDeleteThis is a tough one! I think my most favorite was my son's costume we made last year. He wanted to be WWE Superstar Seth Rollings and we made the wig and money in the bank briefcase he used as his candy bag! Seth Rollings and the WWE even tweeted out his picture it was epic!
