Well, it should be a word count Wednesday, but as you all know, I'm taking a mini-break from writing. So my word count is zero and will be zero for a while. But don't hesitate to tell me how you did! Did you win NaNo?
Instead of writing I've been quilting (my first large quilt). I think I mentioned that last week, actually. Here's a picture of it almost done. Not too bad for my first try, but there is definitely room for improvement on the next one. :)
I've also been getting out my Christmas cards and making 120 Family Home Evening packets for my ward. And, you know, being a mom and wife and stuff like that. It's a good break for me and one that I think I needed.
So, pull up a chair and I'll give you some hot cocoa. Tell me how you've been! What have you been up to?
ooh, nice quilt! I've been thinking I might try to do a t-shirt quilt of the shirts I can't bear to get rid of. But cutting them up might be worse. I might have a problem.
ReplyDeleteWell, I just finished NaNoWriMo, and am editing a book to send to Angry Robot Books' open door submission thing by Dec 31. Also still recovering from last week's Thanksgiving, which turned into a Thursday-Sunday friend and family fest.
Oh, I just finished my hot cocoa. It was delicious, with whip cream on top. Yum!
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt, Julie. The colors tie in so well with the theme. I'm sure it will be treasured for many, many years.
I did not do NaNo this year. I was finishing up a book that I had started three years ago, actually. I did play last year, though, but only succeeded writing about 45,000 words of RELATIVE EVIL before the month finished out. Good news is that I completed it before this summer, and started querying it after I had a couple of Beta readers go through it. I also had the great opportunity to submit it to your First Page Friday, and was called an "evil genius" by Ms. Shreditor. That had to be my happiest day. I even Tweeted that quote!
I got some good news yesterday. A publisher I queried RELATIVE EVIL to in an open submissions call at the beginning of October emailed me, and called it "promising" and requested a full manuscript. Now the nervous wait begins!
I am engaged in learning patience by dealing with business consultants who seem bound and determined to waste as much of my time as possible.
ReplyDeleteI need some vacation time where I'm not at work and I'm not at home either, if I want to get any writing done. I wonder how much I could done at a writing retreat? (Not one with Robison Wells, because I'm pretty sure I'd just end up playing with his dog.)
Anyone want to give me ideas on presents / stocking stuffers for Christmas?
Jennifer that was my original plan to do a t-shirt quilt and I watched all the Youtube vids and cut the shirts, but then I got sidetracked with this one. That's my next project though, so we'll have to compare notes!
ReplyDeleteDebra I am HAPPY DANCING for you! That's wonderful news! Yay!
Jon, I vote for books. :)
