You've reminded me that I'm writing that basic foundation to a story. I'll save the editing for later, after I have all walls built and they can actually support the roof.Debra Erferthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08239033133090036826noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4421706587311875668.post-86849968673037442712011-05-26T09:46:21.919-06:002011-05-26T09:46:21.919-06:00What a great analogy Stephanie, thanks! That's not too stereotypical is it?) :)Julie Coulter Bellonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07695605817809301518noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4421706587311875668.post-14323489126638175152011-05-26T09:40:35.859-06:002011-05-26T09:40:35.859-06:00It's very freeing to remind yourself that it&#...It's very freeing to remind yourself that it's just a first draft--you can fix it later! Shannon Hale talked about it as shoveling sand into the sandbox so you can use it to build a castle. I love that analogy--I don't have to worry if it doesn't look good yet, but the sand is there, and in revision I can make the castle.Stephanie Blackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08848784501386694887noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4421706587311875668.post-64754854541041438822011-05-26T09:36:19.576-06:002011-05-26T09:36:19.576-06:00Stacy, that's totally my problem--turning off ...Stacy, that's totally my problem--turning off the internal editor and letting it be far from perfect. It's a process for sure, but I'm glad there's someone else out there like me! :)Julie Coulter Bellonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07695605817809301518noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4421706587311875668.post-83106844938228415172011-05-26T09:33:18.029-06:002011-05-26T09:33:18.029-06:00Great advise - not to think too hard about it, but...Great advise - not to think too hard about it, but just doing it! I like to just get the words down with the first draft too, but I struggle with turning off the internal editor as I do it and allowing that first draft to be far from perfection.Stacy Henriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03303383087338174942noreply@blogger.com
